Privacy Policy

GolfCad ("the App") is a golf rangefinder and scoring app developed by the GolfCad team ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the App collects, why, and how it is handled.
What we collect

What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or tracking data.
- We do not sell, share, or trade your data with anyone.
- Your GPS location is used exclusively on your device for distance calculations. It is never transmitted to the server or any third party.
Third-party services
The App's backend uses the following services, which may process your requests:
- Cloudflare — CDN and secure tunnel to the server (processes HTTPS requests). Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Sentry — Error tracking for the API. When a server error occurs, technical details about the error (not your personal data) may be sent to Sentry. Subject to Sentry's Privacy Policy.
No other third-party services have access to your data.
Data storage and security
- Your data is stored on a self-hosted server in Canada.
- Passwords are hashed with Argon2 and a secret pepper — we cannot read them.
- All traffic between the App and the server is encrypted via HTTPS.
- The database is backed up daily to encrypted cloud storage (Cloudflare R2).
Data retention and deletion
- Your data is retained as long as your account exists.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the App. This permanently removes your account and all associated data (rounds, scores, matches, league memberships, bag) from the server. This action cannot be undone.
- Backup copies are automatically purged after 30 days.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
